Affirmations List in 4 Easy Steps
Long before the movie, “The Secret” came out, people used affirmations. Chanting and positive prayer are forms of affirmations that have been around for centuries. The positive effects of repeating an affirmations list can be felt immediately and go a long ways to creating the life you want. Here are four easy steps you can take to create your own affirmations list.
Step one. What area or areas of your life would you like to improve? Get out a sheet of paper and write these headings across the top: finances, relationships, physical, and spiritual. Below these headings write down problems you are having, goals you have and any desires related to those categories. You want your affirmations list to help you with areas of your life that are causing you stress.
Step two. Now mentally transport yourself to a point in the future where you have solved all these problems and have received or attained all you want. What statements would you make now? Look at each item on your list from step one and create a positive, present-tense statement. Act as if you have already gotten to your finish line and write down statements from that perspective.
Step three. Transfer all these new statements to a new sheet of paper and give yourself some room to make revisions. These statements will become your affirmations list. Review each affirmation and make sure that all words are positive. For example, if you wrote down that you had lost 25 pounds, revise that to say, “I maintain a healthy weight of 150 pounds.” Also add or change any words to make the affirmation feel really good when you repeat it to yourself. If it feels better to say, “I easily maintain my weight and support myself with healthy decisions,” change your affirmation. This isn’t about pounding a goal into your head, it’s about feeling good.

Step four. When you feel really good about your final affirmations list, it’s time to begin using them! Write the ones that grab your attention on sticky notes and place them on your mirror. Record a series of your affirmations in your computer’s screen saver so they pop up and make you smile. Save them as voice notes. Record yourself saying them and play that when you go for walks or exercise. Repeat them out loud while driving. Mail yourself a letter with them listed and a note of encouragement. The important part is to practice repeating your affirmations list frequently and to let each affirmation sink in and make you feel really good.
