Daily Positive Affirmations – 3 Tips

Knowing that you want to think more positively is a good first step to making a happier life for yourself. But, if you have thought that doing daily positive affirmations seems like too much work, here are some great tips.

Tip #1. Counter what you are most worried about. What is stressing you out the most right now? What negative thoughts do you feel like you are replaying over and over? Start with the negative thoughts that are claiming the most space in your mental real estate. You may find it helpful to keep a notepad handy to write down what is worrying you. You want to create your positive affirmations to help you deal with what is bothering you in your life.

Now that you have shed light on what is bothering you the most, create positive affirmations to counter these big stresses. Look to a point in the future where you have solved the problem or have received or achieved your goal. Write your affirmation from that perspective.

Make sure your positive affirmations are made up of positive words and are written in the present-tense. You want to make positive statements that are claiming your desired result now. Also, make sure you modify your affirmations until all the words make you feel good. This isn’t traditional goal-setting where you pound something into your head. Positive affirmations are words that will calm and soothe you, so make sure they feel really good.

Tip #2. Use positive affirmations in advance of events. You can help get yourself though tough parts of your schedule by repeating affirmations ahead of time. Do you have a long commute? Repeat, “I enjoy my commute for the alone time it provides.” Find a positive affirmation that gives you relief. If you have to do your commute, take the time to fill your mind with positive thoughts. Are you heading into a big meeting? Repeat, “I enjoy meeting new people.”

Much of the benefit of using daily positive affirmations is that it gives you relief from the negative chatter that may be running rampant in your mind. Stop the negative thoughts and intentionally replace them with positive affirmations. Allow these affirmations to feel good and to give yourself some space to let solutions and ideas pop into your mind.

Tip #3. Start and end your day with positive thoughts. Repeat your favorite positive affirmations as soon as you wake up to get your day started off well. Also, instead of replaying scenes of your day that may keep you up at night, repeat a positive affirmation to help you drift off quietly into a restful night’s sleep.

Practicing daily positive affirmations can shift your focus now, while paving the way to a more positive future. You don’t have to be a mental Jedi-master to use them. Find positive statements that make you feel really good and you are on your way.
